1. Seward Highway from Anchorage to Whittier, Alaska

Spectacular snow covered mountains plunge steeply into fjords. Pull-outs and parks every few miles to stop and take in the views, including one that is apparently good for beluga whale spotting. Probably equal to or better than British Columbia’s spectacular Sea to Sky Highway or California’s 17 Mile Drive.

2. Top of the World Highway, Dawson City, Yukon to Canada/US Border

A former pack trail that snakes along the top of mountain ridges above the timberline. Lean vegetation. Exhilarating. This drive is what roadtrippin is all about and left me breathless.
